En Chantier, meaning "under construction" in French, is a photo series documenting the gut renovation of a centuries-old Paris apartment. This renovation called for the removal of layers upon layers of paints, materials and hardware– revealing in the process the craftsmanship of a bygone era. Honing in on methods of adjoining walls to ceilings, this series investigates what lies beneath the clean plastered lines or "creases" within those corners. The camera lens is pointed upward towards the ceiling in order to capture hidden details of these entirely mundane interior elements (thresholds, window beams, etc.) The textures and colors are further enhanced by the lens' ability to "flatten" the corners, which allows one to inspect the wall's inner surface like a blueprint.
